Privacy Policy

Rooster is a reminder and wake-up app that, instead of a beep, rings your device with an incoming call in an AI voice at the times you schedule — so a wake-up is as hard to sleep through as a phone call. These are in-app calls delivered to your own device over the internet (using Apple's CallKit); Rooster does not place traditional telephone (PSTN) calls. This Privacy Policy explains what MPDialer LLC ("MPDialer," "we," "us," or "our") collects when you use Rooster (the "Service"), why, and who processes it. By using the Service you consent to the practices described here.
Information we collect
- Your phone number — to verify your identity, sign you in, and send you a one-time SMS verification code.
- Profile you give us — your name, the goals and routines you choose to share, your wake-up preferences (persona, voice, how hard to push), and time zone. Used to personalize your calls.
- Your reminders — what to remind you about and when, including any recurrence.
- Calendar data (optional) — if you connect your calendar, Rooster reads events from your device, and for the events you choose to be reminded about it stores that event's title and time on our servers so it can call or notify you beforehand. You pick which events, and you can turn this off in Settings.
- Call outcomes — whether a call was answered or confirmed and related timing, so recurring reminders advance correctly and the experience improves. Call audio is processed in real time to power the conversation and is not retained by us as stored recordings.
- Friends data (optional) — if you use Friends, we store your friend connections and, when you send a friend a wake-up or a message, the message content and the timing you choose. Friends can only be other Rooster users who have connected with you; Rooster delivers to their own device and never contacts anyone by phone on your behalf.
- Consent record — the exact consent text you agreed to and when, to comply with calling law (TCPA).
- Push token and device identifiers — to deliver the incoming-call signal to your device and to cancel the on-device backup alarm after a call.
- Purchase status — your subscription tier and renewal status (via Apple / RevenueCat). We never see your card number.
- Diagnostics — if enabled, crash and error reports to help us fix problems.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Automated and AI processing
Rooster is an AI service. To turn your typed requests into reminders and to power the spoken conversation on a call, your reminder text and your call audio are processed by third-party AI providers acting on our behalf: Google (Gemini) for understanding and conversation, Deepgram for speech-to-text, and Inworld for the AI voice. Your call audio is processed in real time and is not retained as recordings. By using Rooster you consent to this AI processing; if you do not want it, do not schedule AI calls.
How we use your information
- To provide, operate, and improve the Service and personalize your calls;
- To ring your device with the reminder and wake-up calls you schedule, including follow-up call-backs if you snooze or don't answer;
- To deliver Friends wake-ups and messages you send or receive, and to moderate that content;
- To verify your phone number and sign you in;
- To process your subscription and manage your account;
- To keep a record of your consent and honor "stop" requests;
- To protect against fraud, abuse, and misuse; and
- To comply with our legal obligations.
How Rooster reaches you, and the Friends feature
Rooster rings your own device after you have verified your number and granted consent in the app — no traditional phone call is ever placed. If you use Friends, a friend you've connected with can send you a wake-up or a message that Rooster speaks to you on your own device. You choose whether friends may reach you at all, and you can accept, decline, report, or block anything a friend sends. You can stop calls at any time by saying "stop" on a call, turning a reminder off, blocking or unfriending a friend, or deleting your account.
User content and moderation
Messages you send to friends are user-generated content. We screen this content automatically before it plays and remove anything that violates our Terms of Service. You can report or block a friend at any time, and we act on reports within 24 hours by removing the content and, where warranted, ejecting the offending user. See our Terms of Service for the rules that apply.
Service providers who process data for us
We share the minimum necessary with vendors that operate the Service on our behalf, each bound to use the data only to provide their service to us:
- Telnyx — sending the SMS verification code.
- Google (Gemini) — turning your typed request into a scheduled reminder and powering the on-call conversation.
- Deepgram (speech-to-text) and Inworld (AI voice) — the live call audio.
- RevenueCat and Apple — subscription billing.
- Vercel, Neon, Fly.io, Upstash / QStash — hosting, database, scheduling, and rate limiting.
- Expo — delivering push notifications.
- Sentry — crash and error diagnostics (if enabled).
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or in connection with a business transfer.
Data retention
We keep your account data while your account exists. Reminder, calendar-reminder, friends, and call-outcome history is retained to operate the Service and is periodically pruned. When you delete your account we delete your data across our systems (see below). Do-not-call and opt-out records are kept as long as needed to keep honoring them.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data.
Your choices and rights
- Access and edit your profile in the app's Settings.
- Delete your account in Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, reminders, and call history across our systems. (Opt-out records may be retained to keep honoring a "stop calling" request.)
- California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or "share" personal information as defined by the CCPA.
- EEA/UK residents (GDPR): you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our legal bases are performance of our agreement with you, your consent (for calls/SMS), and our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service.
- To exercise any right, email info@mpdialer.com.
Children
Rooster is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region) and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will update this policy as the app evolves and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be surfaced in the app or by other reasonable means.
